    Under the direction of the Store Manager, the Customization Specialist is responsible for prepping, executing and finishing customized orders. The Customization Specialist must be able to properly set up and calibrate single-head industrial embroidery machines and heat press machines and run them to fulfill customer orders. The Customization Specialist is also responsible for preventative and regular maintenance of the customization machines.

    Responsibilities

    • Genuinely understand, communicate and promote the culture, heritage, values and mission of Champion and its iconic product stories to customers
    • Select correct materials to perform customization in accordance with the specifications provided on the sales orders
    • Set up embroidery and heat press machines at the beginning of each shift, to ensure that they works according to standards during the day
    • Pull orders for customization and stage for next runs
    • Embroidery:
      • Select the right type and color or threads and ensure that they are properly threaded in machine needles
      • Hoop garments and fabric properly and set it under the needle to perform embroidery patterns
      • Select the right type and size of embroidery stencil to use for each design and ensure that any ragged edges are trimmed
      • Mount needles, blades and pattern plates onto embroidery machines and ensure that they are properly disconnected and cleaned after each job
      • Monitor embroidery machine operation to ensure high level of accuracy
    • Heat Press:
      • Ensure proper placement for embellishments
      • Properly set temperature for selected garments
      • Maintain proper heat press guidelines to ensure
    • Review product quality to verify custom orders are complete and according to customer’s specifications
    • Fold and bag decorated garments per sales order
    • Contact customers when orders are completed
    • Ship completed jobs via UPS, FedEx, Customer Pick Up as needed
    • Maintain a daily log of Work-In-Progress with expected completion times and document where each order is in process
    • Maintain inventory of thread, backing, solvy, bobbins, and expendable supplies (trimmer knives, blades, hook assemblies, bobbin cases, etc.)
    • Maintain inventory of embellishments
    • Maintain a clean and organized work space

    Qualifications

     

    Minimum Education and Experience Required: 

     

    • High school Diploma/GED
    • Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask
    • Excited to be part of the Champion team and willing to work hard while having fun
    • Strong selling techniques and experience delivering high-level customer service
    • Work experience with commercial embroidery machine, preferably Tajima
    • Work experience with commercial heat press machine
    • Must be capable of running a single-head industrial embroidery machine
    • Must have competency with sizing embroidery files from .emb to .dst
    • Basic computer literacy and ability to learn and navigate software at an efficient pace
    • Ability to place spools of thread, cord, or other materials on spindles, insert bobbins, and thread ends through machine guides and components
    • Ability to sit, stand, or bend for up to 6 hours per day in a production area
    • Ability to package and prepare items for pickup/delivery with attention to quality
    • Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays

     

    Preferred Experience:

    • 1-2 years heat press operation experience
    • 1-2 years Digitizing experience
    • 1-2 years minimum embroidery machine operation
    • 2+ years sewing experience
    • 1+ year clerical/software experience
